Christmas may be a time of year that you look forward to, or it might be a time of year that you find a bit tough for a number of reasons. What this season brings will be different for everyone.
The counsellor here at PCS would like to provide you with some advice and tips for ways of looking after and managing your mental health leading up to and over this festive period.
Christmas is a time of year that often puts extra pressure onto us and can affect our mental health in many different ways. For example, it may make you feel alone or left out because everyone else seems so happy.
Christmas is not a positive experience for everyone and we need to be mindful of that. This year there are the extra pressures of not being able to socialise as much as we are used too or the added fear that covid has brought in terms of shopping and working. Either way we need to look after ourselves, not put too much pressure on ourselves to make this one day in the year ‘perfect’. It’s important to ensure that you care for your wellbeing as mental health does not take a day off over Christmas.
