If you have to leave your house to go into work during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, it might feel like a difficult and stressful time.
You may need to go into work during the coronavirus pandemic because you're on the Government's list of key workers (also known as critical workers). You as staff at PCS are known as critical workers due to the care that you give to the vulnerable individuals you care for. You may experience anxiety because of the work that you are doing during coronavirus. This might be because you are worried about your own health or the health of those around you, including those who you care for or live with. You might feel even more anxious if your job involves working with people who have coronavirus or coming into contact with people who may be ill and are on palliative care. Here at PCS we provide PPE for you to feel safe and ensure the safety of your clients. This anxiety may be on top of other worries related to coronavirus, such as loved ones losing their job or problems with money. As the lockdown measures have been tightened here, we at PCS want you to feel assured that we care about your mental health and wellbeing as well as that of our clients and their families. You are making a significant difference to the lives of many people who without you caring for them may feel more frightened and alone at this difficult time. That smile and chat that you give, can reassure your client that someone is there and they can feel safe knowing that. When you're busy with work and trying to cope with new, unusual circumstances, it might not feel possible to take care of yourself. But even doing small things for yourself can make a big difference to your mental wellbeing, and there are lots of ideas you can try.
You can chat about these with your counsellor at PCS.
The PCS counsellor is here to ensure that you have someone to talk to as a valued staff member. We know that these are difficult times and we want you to know that you are not alone. We appreciate the efforts that you make to come into work as well as the clients. If you are struggling and would like to chat about anything that may be causing you anxiety or worry, then please contact our counsellor who is here to help.
